Conclusion

Vimovo is a combination drug of naproxen and esomeprazole in high doses. It is approved for symptomatic treatment of osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis (spondylitis ankylopoietica) in patients with risk of ventricular and/or duodenal ulcers associated with NSAID and where treatment with lower doses of naproxen or other NSAID is not considered to be adequate.

 

Vimovo tablets consist of an immediate-release 20 mg esomeprazole outer layer and an enteric-coated 500 mg naproxen core designed to give modified drug release. It should be administered twice a day but is not suitable for treatment of acute pain.

 

Vimovo was marketed April 30th 2012.
